Put the FUN in Fundraising!

“Sport teaches you so many great life lessons and gives you so many great opportunities. It changed my life and I know it can change the lives of many, many others.”

- Aurélie Rivard, 10x Paralympic medallist, Para swimming

What’s the difference between fundraising and donating?

  • Donating is generally a one-time or monthly gift made by an individual in support of the Paralympic Foundation of Canada.

  • Fundraising is an activity an individual or group of individuals do to engage with their networks to help raise money to support the Paralympic Foundation of Canada. Plus, you get bragging rights, the chance for prizes and that sense of competition.

I have a hard time asking my network for money. Should I still fundraise?

YES, you can do it! Even though it might be challenging, know you’re making a great impact in the lives of Canadians with a disability. When you sign up as a fundraiser, we’ll provide you with some useful tools to help you ask people in your network for their support. Your comfort is key, but there are plenty of options that don’t require a ton of work on your side.

Are donations made through a Fundraising page still tax deductible?

You bet. All donations made through the P2P (peer-to-peer) platform are tax deductible and can be counted toward your fundraising total. You can also collect offline donations - that is, envelopes of cash or cheques from those who don’t want to make an online donation - and enter those in here as well. We can help you navigate this process along the way!

Sounds good! How do I get started?

It’s easy! Simply visit the page associated with the city you are attending the ParaTough Cup in, and fill in the required info. You’ll be treated to some tips and tricks to optimize your personal fundraising page, but we’re right with you every step of the way in case you have any questions or run into any trouble. Don’t hesitate to contact us at any time!

What are the dates I need to know about?

The fundraising period runs from July 1 to December 31, 2024 at 11:59 pm EDT. However, the funds you’ve raised through the P2P platform on CanadaHelps by the date of the ParaTough Cup event you’re attending will count toward your team - and be factored into determining what prizes you’ve won and who will take home one of this year’s ParaTough Cups!
